About
The story of Healing Space UK
Healing Space UK began with one observation: support stops at the door. An hour of full attention, then a week alone with it.
Why it began
The gap between appointments is where people quietly give up โ not because therapy failed them, but because nothing was holding the space in between. Insight faded, context was lost, and every setback happened out of sight of the people best placed to help.
Healing Space UK was built to hold that space: to preserve the record between sessions and across a course of therapy, so patients keep hold of their own story and clinicians begin with the context that was actually shared with them.
What it is trying to achieve
The mission is continuity: making the hours between sessions part of care rather than a silence in the middle of it, and making a course of therapy something both people can look back at rather than reconstruct. Patients keep their own record and decide what is shared; clinicians see the context that was shared with them; the hour goes further.
The line we hold is that Healing Space preserves the record and helps people revisit it โ it does not decide what that history means. Patient reports, agreed goals, recorded measures and clinician records stay attributable to their original source, and interpretation stays with the people in the room.
Access is free for every patient, deliberately. Asking someone for a card number in the worst week of their life is the exact moment you lose them โ so services fund it, and in return get their time back and a caseload that does not slip through unseen.
How it is being built
Openly, and evidence before certainty. The philosophy, charter and manifesto on this site are the operating documents the platform is actually held to โ published so they can be quoted back at us. The Trust Centre records what is and is not in place today, including the uncomfortable parts.
Healing Space is currently being developed and evaluated with input from practising therapists, to understand where this kind of continuity provides the most useful support in real practice. Those are working conversations rather than endorsements: no organisation or individual is named here for credibility, and we have no evidence yet that the approach improves therapeutic outcomes. If you work in private practice and would like to argue with any of it, the door is open.
Healing Space UK was founded by Mr Richard T. Martin and is built in the open: stating plainly what it can do, what it cannot do yet, and which claims it refuses to make until there is evidence behind them. We would rather tell you honestly what this cannot do than sell you something it is not.
